I have very sensitive skin & am allergic to many products, so I'm limited to only a handful of shampoos. After long-term use, they tend to make my hair look flat & lackluster. Because of this, I'm always on the hunt for products I can alternate with to remove buildup & give my hair a healthier look.This has become one of my new favorite shampoos. I haven’t had any allergic reactions, & it does a fantastic job of removing buildup & getting my hair literally squeaky clean. It has a thick, creamy consistency that lathers richly with minimal product. The scent is pleasant, earthy. Similar to a cypress essential oil blend—refreshing without being overly perfumy.A single wash is enough to get my hair completely clean. It doesn’t leave my hair dry or brittle; instead, it gives it a healthy shine & extra volume. It can make my natural curls a bit frizzy, but nothing unmanageable. I follow up with a deep conditioner & leave-in smoothing oil when wearing my hair curly, while my regular conditioner works fine when I wear it straight.It also extends the time between washes, as my hair doesn’t start looking oily until about day three. With most other shampoos, my hair starts getting oily by the end of the next day. So, it’s been great for healthy maintenance.Overall, this is a wonderful shampoo with a lovely fragrance that feels high-quality & keeps my long hair looking healthy—without any negative skin reactions.
Not sure why this stuff is priced so high. It's pearly white and doesn't suds much, so I'm not sure if I'm getting clean. My hair does not feel very good afterward: kind of sticky and clumpy--begging for conditioner. The scent is very "masculine," like I just finished chopping some kind of wood. My husband agrees (I got this for him, but I had to try it, too.) So, yeah, it's like they took cheap shampoo, dumped a ton of fragrance in it, and put it in a fancy bottle. Oh, and the box came smashed because it was shipped in a bubble bag rather than a box.
Leaves hair feeling clean and refreshed but definitely need to follow with a conditioner- hair feels “hard” without
It smells really good. My husband likes how well it cleans his hair. He's been using another famous brand, and this one compares well to that one. I would recommend it.
The shampoo works really well with my curly hair. It makes my hair feel clean and moisturize. It also smells really good. Definitely recommend for to try.
I like that the shampoo is sulfate free. He did a good job of cleaning my hair. I felt that it was a little harsh More like a clarifying shampoo because it left my hair feeling stripped. . I usually don’t use a conditioner, but I needed to use conditioner after usingthis shampoo. The shampoo had a nice scent to it and could be used by both men and women.It was not my favorite shampoo, and I felt that it was a little pricey.
This smells really good; it reminds me of a spa (like, a manly spa I guess, not a feminine scent). My hair doesn't come out greasy or shiny; no dandruff issues. My only complaint is that it doesn't lather very well. I have short enough hair that it's not a big deal, but I sometimes like using my leftover lather as shaving cream. This doesn't quite work for that
As a system this shampoo worked well, only because I used the matching conditioner with it. It smells good and I love them together. I didn’t love this one by itself as a conditioner because it felt like it really stripped my hair lol and made it hard to put my fingers through when rinsing. I just don’t like that dry feeling, like clarifying shampoos. My shampoo also arrived with a broken dispenser pump. It didn’t have anything around the pump at all to protect it, so I had to open it and use it like that. I would only recommend getting it if you plan to pair it with the conditioner.
This is a nice, creamy shampoo. We got this for my husband and he likes it a lot. He especially likes it for the great scent (he is a big scent guy.) We both think it mainly stands out as a citrus scent with some undertones of woodsy cypress. It doesn’t lather a ton but it gets his hair nice and clean and that is what is most important to him.
The title of this review really says it all. My first impression upon using this shampoo was, "Wow, this is super strong!" The scent isn't necessarily terrible, but I don't particularly enjoy it either. The results were also less than ideal; the shampoo left my hair feeling dry and a little stiff (as if it stripped off all of the natural, healthy oils). To top that all off, it's significantly more expensive than equivalent shampoos that smell better and leave my hair feeling healthy. Overall, I would not recommend this product.
I'm beginning to like this shampoo more and more after each use. I have short hair, so I really don't need more than a pump and possibly a half to get good coverage. It lathers well in my hair and the scent is calming for me. Normally, I let the shampoo stay on for few minutes before rinsing, and it rinses off pretty easily. It also didn't leave my hair dry, it felt good to run my fingers after. I'm very satisfied with this shampoo and will be using it conistently.
I have type 3a curly hair. Product feels like and does not weigh down curls. It combs through hair easily and lathers well. Has a pleasant smell, but not over powering.
Overpowering scent! Doesn't lather much, but does get your hair clean. Seems overpriced
This really doesn't make my hair feel any better or worse than my $4 trader joe's shampoos. I am not sure I see a reason to buy this over any other shampoo. When you compare it to other luxury brand shampoos, I understand the price point being good. This didn't help my scalp or hair as much as anti dandruff shampoos have.
It does the job. It gets your hair clean. The rest.. is kind of whatever. The scent is ok. Not amazing, but it does smell good and is kind of a subtle smell, but definitely has that chemical kind of smell to it. It doesn't lather very well. It recommends you lather in your hands.. and it doesn't help much. I even applied it a second time thinking my hair was just really dirty.. nope.. just won't lather well. It does a good job of getting your hair clean, I will say. It feels very clean to the touch once rinsed. It also says it will thicken and protect your hair, but after using it for about a week, I frankly can't tell that it does any better a job then head and shoulders at thickening your hair. I do have naturally oily hair, and I did find that I needed to use this alternating with a dandruff shampoo (which is normal for me).The packing was good and premium feeling.All in all.. I think is quite a bit over priced for what you are getting. I doubt anyone is that worried about how expensive the brand of shampoo you use is, you are more worried about results. At this price, there are many salon brands that do a better job.
I love the smell of this shampoo. It's woodsy, not at all floral. It suds up well and gives your scalp a clean, tingly feeling. I've only used it a few times, but so far it's left my hair shiny and smelling great!

First, the scent of this stuff is mildly citrussy - it reminded me of a refreshing cocktail. The texture was fine, it seemed a bit concentrated and adding water helped it lather much better. The lathering is akin to a professional shampoo, and probably is a result of not having sulfate in the ingredients. It does have sulfonate, a milder version, and I was happy to see that because sulfates tend to make my hair shed a lot. This shampoo did not cause excessive shedding - the most important thing for me. The ingredients include some interesting vegetable extracts. I wish companies would start posting ingredients on Amazon listings so we could purchase informed. Says its made in California, so maybe that accounts for the high price point. Left my shoulder length hair feeling clean and looking good.
In the product description, it is written that this shampoo is unscented. The first thing I noticed about this shampoo was it's magnificent scent. It has a woodsy, outdoor scent that is like walking in a cypress forest. While everyone will enjoy this luxury shampoo, I know that my husband will really be excited, it doesn't smell like flowers at all. The shampoo is made of a whole salad full of healthy supergreens. I have never heard of greens used in shampoo before, but it should be strengthening and healthy for hair. This shampoo is made in California. Only a small amount of shampoo is needed so it should last a long time. This shampoo is for all hair types. Showering with this shampoo is like a little mini "get away" vacation, somewhere lush and green. Definitely a luxury shampoo, my husband will enjoy this powerful shampoo.
I am always looking for good, quality shampoos. This Jack Henry shampoo is a great option. I have found that you do not need too much of the product and will even a small amount, there is a lot of lather that is obtained. The shampoo leaves my hair smooth, soft and clean feeling. The smell of the shampoo is very pleasant as well. I am not a fan of potent smelling bath products with artificial scents, and this shampoo does not have that kind of potency. It is hard to describe exactly what the smell is, but it is a very subtle natural smell to the product. I definitely love the product and am looking forward to using other products from the Jack Henry line.
This shampoo comes in a nice pump bottle that makes washing up quick and easy. The shampoo cleans product out of my hair well. The Hinoki Cypress scent is a bit strange though. The cypress smells very green. It’s hard to explain it. The scent doesn’t linger, but the smell of the glycerine that it is made with does. At this price point, I don’t like it enough to buy it again.
*For reference, I have thick, wavy, colored hair and a scalp that tends to get very dry and irritated.This is my first experience with the Jack Henry line, and I am impressed. This shampoo manages to be creamy and hydrating without leaving the hair near my scalp weighed down (which is a common problem for me with a lot of shampoos). My hair dried nicely and had enough shine to look healthy, but no feeling of build-up or greasiness. I'd call the scent unisex--it has some woody notes with a sweeter undertone. It doesn't seem heavily fragranced, though, as on my hair it didn't linger for a long time. I'm one of those once-a-week shampooers, so this bottle will last quite a while; I consider it a good value.
Shampoo did an excellent job cleansing my semi-oil prone scalp. While I don't ordinary mind fragrant shampoos, this hinoki cypress smell is very potent. If you are sensitive to fragrant products be warned. Otherwise, the smell is slightly citrus based with a heavy woody scent.
